Are you a good tipper? Your generation may have something to do with it.

Who hits the big number when they spin that tablet around, tips (ha) for tweaking your life to be a lot more joyful, and advice for stress that is so GOOD you'll WANT TO SCREAM!

“We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.”

Tipping, tradition, and a generational divide

Tipping isn’t what it used to be. Some say businesses should pay workers properly (which is somehow controversial). Others point out that with rent, debt, and inflation, Gen Z barely has change left to spare. Whatever the reason, the data’s in, Boomers are the ones putting most of the scratch in the tip jar.

As Ryan Reed explains, the conversation around tipping is complicated and deeply personal. (He, for one, had to be taught by his wife that you’re supposed to tip your barber.) A lack of tipping experience, rising costs, and unstable income may all be contributing factors for younger generations pinching their pennies. But regardless of age, tipping customs continue to stir up strong feelings.

So how big is the spread? Only 25% of Gen Z "always" tip their hairstylist. Boomers? 71%.

The real generation gap might be at the cash register. Read through to find out what your generation is doing at the tablet when they spin it around.

How do you feel about tipping?

Region, age, inflation, and even politics are all factors in picking that magic percentage.

And what did we learn?

After sharing an excellent expert-endorsed approach to post-break-up healing, we asked you how you’ve coped with the pain of an ended relationship. Over 40% of you leaned into being your best, truest selves.

  • There's a time and place for a stiff drink, and this is it (12.5%)

  • Onward and upward. New love heals all (20.0%)

  • Like the article says, I leaned in on being me (42.5%)

  • Check your assumptions, Greg, I've never been part of a breakup (12.5%)

GOOD reader Boyce1430 captured the majority sentiment: “I took blame for the breakup, but now realize I have to be me and won't change for someone.”

When life feels too loud, try turning the volume down.

Between inflation, constant pings, and the feeling that everyone else has it more together than you, life can feel like one long to-do list with no “Mark All As Done” button. But a corner of the internet has been quietly sharing the kind of wisdom you won’t find on productivity TikTok, simple, human rules for living better with less.

In this story, Mark Wales gathers their best ideas for cutting through the noise. It’s not about moving off the grid or meditating for hours a day. It’s about small choices that bring real calm in a chaotic world.

So what are the 10 rules people swear by for a happier, simpler life?

The question is, do you have to bring your own lozenges?

Do you ever just want to scream? Like, really let loose. Not in your mind, not into a pillow, but loud and proud?

Same.

But screaming feels like something you have to be alone to do. God forbid you let loose and someone comes running with the “What’s wrong?” questions. If you’ve been thinking of where you can go to scream alone, though, you’ve been thinking about this all wrong.

“Psychologically, these group scream sessions or events blend elements of community, somatic release, and primal therapy.”

Licensed therapist Candace Kotkin-De Carvalho

All over the world, people are joining “scream clubs,” meetups where folks gather to yell their hearts out, high-five afterward, and maybe even make a few new friends.

In Erik Barnes’ story, we learn how this primal release trend is spreading from Chicago to London, blending therapy, community, and the kind of cathartic chaos that actually works.

A GOOD Throwback

There’s a lot to love about Lucy! It's a certified classic now, but when it premiered 74 years ago, it was revolutionary. It pioneered multi-camera filming in front of a live studio audience and introduced a first-of-its-kind syndication model, innovations that still shape TV today. It also broke ground by putting an interracial couple front and center and featuring television’s first pregnant character.

And Lucy didn’t stop at making history, she bankrolled the future. Lucy and Desi used their profits to launch pop culture pillars like Mission: Impossible and the GOOD team’s all-time favorite show, Star Trek. Like chocolates on that conveyor belt, the ripple effects of I Love Lucy just keep coming.
