Who's kinder to their siblings, brothers or sisters?
Science leans in on the battle of the siblings, a multi-platinum rock star sits down with me for a talk about Climate Week and joy, and 17 things the future is going to be giving us shade for.
“Siblings that say they never fight are most definitely hiding something.”

This isn’t boys vs girls, it’s brothers vs sisters, and that changes everything.
A new global study blows up one of psychology’s favorite truisms: that men are always more aggressive than women. Turns out, when it comes to siblings, sisters are just as likely to yell, shove, or start drama, and in some cases, they outpace their brothers. Direct aggression? Equal. Yelling? Equal. Hurling cutlery? Unclear, but anecdotal evidence (thanks, Mark) says maybe.
Arizona State University researcher Douglas Kenrick put it bluntly: people are more likely to fight with siblings than friends, and sisters are at least as aggressive as brothers. Let that sink in the next time you hear, “boys will be boys.”
Mark Wales dives into why family dynamics flip the script on gender and aggression, with results that held true across 24 different cultures.

What AJR’s Adam Met taught me about building joy-fueled movements.
Multi-platinum band AJR and Climate Week don’t exactly sound like they belong in the same sentence. One’s about killer tracks and screaming fans, the other’s about zoning boards and carbon targets. But when I sat down with Adam Met, one-third of AJR and a full-time climate advocate, he made the connection crystal clear.
His new book Amplify argues that fan bases and social movements are built the same way: you draw people in with joy, you make them feel like they belong, and then you hand them the tools to bring others along. He calls it the “hurricane model,” and it’s how he thinks we can scale the climate fight beyond paper straws and hashtags.
Met also told me why joy is the most underrated form of activism, how a four-hour conversation with Glenn Beck turned into an unexpected lesson in bridge-building, and why your local election matters way more than you think.
This interview made climate action feel personal, possible, and actually joyful.
The internet went full time-travel roast mode, asking, “What will seem barbaric about 2025 by the time we hit 2075?”
Predicting the future is a dangerous game. We recently covered how badly it went for one poor writer at GQ in the 90’s. That didn’t stop Reddit from taking a whack at it. So what did they guess we’d catch flak for in the future?
Some of the top predictions hit hard (drilling teeth, for-profit healthcare, child influencers), others are just brutally accurate (still wiping with toilet paper?!).
As one commenter put it, “They cut down trees just to wipe themselves?” Future folks might need therapy just learning about us.
Others that got dragged: factory farming, fast fashion, chemo, working 40-hour weeks just to afford rent.

Which of these was your favorite bit of today's issue. We're always working hard to tune this newsletter to your interests. Let us know what you love most. |
And what did we learn?
Yesterday, we shared that it was the madness of the tax code that killed the mall, and we asked what your first stop was when you used to visit. Looks like GOOD readers were an edgy bunch!
Hot Topic (for your soul and your studded belt) (3.8%)
The arcade (tokens = power) (11.5%)
Spencer’s (don’t tell your mom) (34.6%)
The food court (what actually is a Dippin’ Dot?) (23.1%)
Somewhere else (share your answer) (26.9%)
Reader Mitherl laid out their route like this, “KB’s of course! Spencer’s and Hot Topic was on the planned path too while granny shopped at Sears for new underroos, but we hit up the toy store first!” I respect the priorities.
Do you have something GOOD to share?

Fish are so stupid! In the depths, they swim to their own deaths just because of a shiny light. Humans would never be so stupid, right? Right?!?
Today is my son’s 14th birthday! Happy Birthday, Gregory! Until tomorrow, enjoy your day!
